It was another great day of competition, PB's and smiles for our Under 9 to U16 athletes who were competing in Day 2 of Doncaster's Centre Championships.  A special thank you to our special guests for helping with presentations - Cheryl Zorotheos (Life member of DLAC, Lions and past canteen manager), Gerry Pels (past President East Doncaster and DLAC Committee), Manny Sideridis (Life member and past President Lions), Allan Watson (Life member of DLAC and Saints, and past President Saints), Rob Wickstead (Life member of DLAC and TAS, and past President TAS) and Tim Shiels (current Co-President Bulleen Temp)

The Eastern Metropolitan Region's qualifying round for the State Championships was held at Knox Althletics Track over the weekend of 16th and 17th February.  Congratulations to all athletes for "doing their best" and thank you to our Doncaster Officials and all parents who did duty over the weekend.  An event like this can't happen without you.

With many of our athletes still on school holidays, it was great to welcome back 185 of Donaster's athletes for our annual Multi Event.  The much needed drizzle didn't dampen the athletes' enthusiasm as they competed in 100m, Hurdles, Long Jump, Discus and 800m and the final points were tallied.  This was a perfect practice run for the State Multi Event which will be held in early March.

Many thanks to our organising club, Bulleen Templestowe, all of our parent helpers, Fred and Judy Wilmshurst for helping with presentations (Fred is VLAA's Membership Director) and our sponsors from the Athletes Foot at Doncaster for donating the backpacks for the "Lucky Draw"

What a great day at Doncaster!  The weather may have been unpredictable - rain, cold, sun, more rain, more sun - but not the competition.  It was fantastic.  Congratulations to our Athletes and Coaches for a great effort and thanks to all the Officials and Parents and all the centres of the Eastern Region for making this another enjoyable day at Athletics.

There were 17 very tired Doncaster athletes getting off the bus on Sunday evening after a fun filled weekend of athletic activity at Crystal Creek.  See the Camp Diary and photos by clicking on the photo.

It was a warm and windy day at Doncaster’s first Special Coaching Day of the season. With about 35 athletes in attendance there was lots of fun to be had as our budding athletes rotated through the disciplines - Sprints, Long and Triple Jumps, High Jump, Hurdles, and Throws, and finishing off with a free sausage sizzle and much needed cold drinks.

Our sincere thanks to our coaches, Tom Kelly, Darryl Marchant (Nunawading), Ed Munks, Steve Ballard, Allan Watson and Haydn Dunne.

It was a hot day for running relays but with plenty of shade, drinks, spraying water and cheering, it was a fun day for Doncaster athletes who competed at Box Hill. This is an annual event and is often the first taste of relay competition for many of our young athletes and it was great to see our athletes passing those batons.

The Eastern Metropolitan Region's qualifying round for the State Championships was held at Nunawading Athletics Track over the weekend of 17th and 18th February. It was fantastic to see our athletes encouraging each other and testing their skills against other athletes in the Region.

The Eastern Metropolitan Region's qualifying round for the State Championships was held here at Doncaster on the 19th November.  With approximately 140 Doncaster athletes competing, the Centre looked picture perfect as the 12 centres of the Region matched baton skills and speed.  The winners of each final have now qualified to compete at Olympic Park on 10th December.
